EDUCATION
We hope to help shatter the many negative stereotypes about abandoned animals, encourage and help people to choose to adopt instead of purchasing a pet, to educate people about the importance of spaying and neutering their pets, and to encourage people to become involved with organizations that promote animal welfare. Together we believe we can put an end to the unnecessary killing of adoptable animals, and we envision a future where there are no more homeless pets.
Community Involvement
We are proud to partner with local organizations to create off- site adoption events which allow the animals, potential adopters, and staff to interact in a social environment while raising community awareness of homeless pets. Some of the notable events we have been part of are the Pearl Street Bagels Adoption Day, Pets Place Plus adoption events, the Snow King Winter Bazaar, Home 4 the Holidays, Old Bill’s Fun Run for Charities, Jackson Hole Peoples Market, Subaru Share the Love and the 4th of July Parade.
Youth and School Groups
The AAC believes education about animal welfare is a critical step in our effort to realize an America with no homeless animals. By teaching youth and school groups about animal welfare, the AAC encourages a love of animals from a young age, discourages negative stereotypes about homeless animals and promotes the importance of spay/neuter and adoption. There are several ways youth can interact with the AAC from volunteering once a week, working as an intern over summer vacation to the Teton County School District’s CREST program. Teen Power, GAP Girls, C-V, Summit High School, Journey School and other mentor and scholastic programs are a few of the groups that have visited the AAC recently. If you are interested in collaborating with the AAC to educate your youth group, please call 307.739.1881.
The AAC’s youth volunteer positions are currently full; however, you may fill out an application to be considered for future opportunities! Youth volunteer opportunities vary throughout the year and youth volunteers under the age of eighteen must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
