How to Adopt

Our goal is to ensure that your new four-legged friend arrives fully equipped with all the skills necessary to make a successful adjustment to their new home and family life. The adoption process begins with an application form and concludes after the successful completion of a two week trial period designed to ensure a smooth transition for the animal and the new adopter.

Step 1: Search our adoptable animals

Browse our animals online or visit the AAC to meet them in person.

Step 2: Fill out an application

Dog ApplicationCat Application

Step 3: Adoption Requirements

  • Our dog adoption fee is $175 and the cat adoption fee is $80
  • Potential adopters are required to foster for at least one night. Once your application is reviewed and approved we honor a two-week trial period to make sure your new pet fits in well with your family and lifestyle.
  • Adoption fees will be deposited after the two week trial period. If during the trial period you find that the animal is not a suitable match the adoption fee will be refunded.
  • Any animal adopted from the AAC is always welcomed back if for any reason you can no longer care for him or her at any point in their life.
  • Adopters must be at least 24 years old to adopt a cat or dog.
  • Adopters who rent their home must have landlord approval in order to adopt.
  • We welcome out of area adopters, however we require prospective adopters to visit our facility and spend at least one night with the animal.

Step 4: Congratulations! You are the new mom or dad to a fur-baby!

***THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. TRAX IS NOT LOCATED AT THE ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER. PLEASE USE THE PHONE NUMBER BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION. *** This affectionate black cat is in need of a permanent home. The family who rescued her from starvation in the cold outdoors around Jackson is allergic to cats. Since December 30th she has been cared for by Spring Creek Animal Hospital and Dr. Dan where she has received health care for mild diabeties and an abscessed tooth. She was given the temporary name of Trax because her rescuers initially saw only tracks in the snow before she came toward their arms from behind a sagebush. Trax is about 8 lbs. and likely between 10 and 12 years old. She is very friendly, sweet and needs a calm and caring, safe, and warm environment for her elder years. If you are interested in meeting this sweet girl, please email me at mcobberickson@msn.com. Details: 1 1/2 years old - small Siamese mix - beautiful blue eyes! . ***COURTESY LISTING*** Sevi .
  • Border Collie
***THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING*** ***THIS DOG IS NOT LOCATED AT THE ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER*** FOR ALL INQUIRIES PLEASE EMAIL THE FOSTER AT THE PROVIDED EMAIL BELOW Meet heartstealing Sevi. A striking, split faced freckle-spattered girl, Sevi is super sweet and cautiously curious. She lived on a chain on a ranch all her life - just one or two years old. Her rescuers report she would not work, so they were given permission to go and get her. When she went to be spayed, the vet saw that a few of her teeth were broken...likely kicked out by cows. So she may need more dental work down the road. But who could blame her for not wanting to work? And so, sweet Sevi is now looking for a loving and understanding home that maybe has had experience with border collies. Although she has only been in her foster home for a couple of days, she seems a lovely, gentle soul. She startles and cowers quickly, especially at sudden movements. But her spirit is not broken...Sevi is already showing signs of some spunk and is quickly coming out of her shell! She seeks quiet attention and loves having her head and ears rubbed. Given the way she’s playing with her food bowl and bones, we expect Sevi to be a toy dog. She also gets along well with the other dogs and is already playing a lot with dogs who want to. She crates well and walks with all the manners of a princess on leash. She’s clearly never lived inside and is learning about all that...but will quickly learn. She's muscular and athletic and filled with potential. For someone with Border Collie experience and a little bit of patience, Sevi is going to make the devoted companion of a lifetime. For more info email her foster mom Krissi at wbcr@wbcrescue.org

  • Spayed/Neutered

Dottie is her name and she is the sweetest most loving dog you could meet. I know everyone says that, but Dottie is the definition of a sweet dog. She would be the happiest dog in the world lounging around, going for a hike, smelling flowers while you fish (she literally walks around smelling flowers), you name it and she'd just be happy to be with you. Dottie is such a gorgeous, loving, sweet, smart, snuggly dog I feel she would have an easier time finding a new home. She does have some quirks that would require her to have a special home where she would be the only dog in the house. She does well socializing outside her home, but her anxiety seems to be causing issues with other dogs in her home. She loves kids, just not kids that are too little. She has never been able to kick her need for jumping on people, even though she tries.

Ella came to Wyoming from Mexico on 5/24/17. She was found on the street and taken to the shelter in Mexico so we are really unsure of her actual breed. Ella is a shy little lady who is still gaining her confidence. She is timid at first but after she warms up she latches onto you! Ella thrives in situations involving other dogs. She would do best in a household with another dog.

Sweet Chile is a 1 year old DSH Gray Tabby. He came to us on 4/21/17, which is when we discovered he is FIV Positive. This means he'll need to go to a home with absolutely no other cats, but he doesn't mind, he's more content curled up on your lap anyways! Chile embodies the "curious cat", his inquisitive eyes and adorable self will sneak into your heart the moment you meet him! If you're interested in meeting Chile, please fill out an application and we can set up an introduction.

COURTESY LISTING. PLEASE CONTACT Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976 Doogie is a four year old male chihuahua mix. He is in fantastic health and is up to date on all vaccinations and received his most recent annual exam in January. He was either born with nerve damage in his front left arm, or was injured at a very young age and did not properly heal, therefore he walks with a small limp. Nonetheless, he is not in pain and assumes all normal, healthy dog activities. Doogie loves to run, chase his ball and can often be found herding the bigger dogs at the dog park. Doogie is a snuggler! He loves couch time and burying deep under the covers when its time for bed. He loves sleeping in sunny spots and receiving cuddles and kisses. He is happiest in the lap of his owner or curled up at the foot of the bed. Doogie was adopted by my husband and I out of an abusive home three years ago in San Francisco and has received the most love and affection a pup could ask for since the day he was brought home. We had a baby girl over a year ago and it is growing more and more difficult to balance the relationship between the curiosity of our toddler and Doogie's desire to not be on the receiving end of her ever-growing curiosities. It was with much grief and difficulty that we decided to send him to Wyoming to live with friends that promised an even greater adventure for Doogie, but last minute circumstances have them moving back to New York and they are unable to bring him along. We now find ourselves once again seeking a stable long-term home for Doogie where he will be accepted and unconditionally loved. Doogie does bite, and can be very protective of his resources and owners. Adoption by an experienced small dog owner who knows how to provide consistent boundaries for dogs that try to walk the line would be the ideal scenario. He can be very anxious in new situations and until he is fully comfortable, and as a result will display anxious behavior such as whining, barking and jumping. Once he knows everyone around him and is comfortable, he is haps as a clam, and is a lover! He craves stability and consistency. Doogie would not do well in a home with young children or in a home that receives frequent visits from strangers. He is best in an environment with lots of exercise and room to explore, preferably with other dogs or animal siblings as he thrives in a pack dynamic. There are certain bad habits that he falls into once he gains comfort in an environment, but he has such a desire to please; I believe these habits can be broken with consistent and effective training. Doogie has a heart of gold and has the potential of being an incredible companion. If someone were to invest their efforts in Doogie, I know the outcome would be very rewarding. I would be happy to discuss Doogie further if anyone is interested in taking him on. Thank you, Eric and Caroline Richardson Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976
