Available Animals

The Animal Adoption Center has rehomed approximately 3,500 animals since the inception in 2004.

How to Adopt

Our goal is to ensure that your new four-legged friend arrives fully equipped with all the skills necessary to make a successful adjustment to their new home and family life. The adoption process begins with an application form and concludes after the successful completion of a two week trial period designed to ensure a smooth transition for the animal and the new adopter.

Step 1: Search our adoptable animals

Browse our animals online or visit the AAC to meet them in person.

Step 2: Fill out an application

Dog ApplicationCat Application

Step 3: Adoption Requirements

  • Our dog adoption fee is $175 and the cat adoption fee is $80
  • Potential adopters are required to foster for at least one night. Once your application is reviewed and approved we honor a two-week trial period to make sure your new pet fits in well with your family and lifestyle.
  • Adoption fees will be deposited after the two week trial period. If during the trial period you find that the animal is not a suitable match the adoption fee will be refunded.
  • Any animal adopted from the AAC is always welcomed back if for any reason you can no longer care for him or her at any point in their life.
  • Adopters must be at least 24 years old to adopt a cat or dog.
  • Adopters who rent their home must have landlord approval in order to adopt.
  • We welcome out of area adopters, however we require prospective adopters to visit our facility and spend at least one night with the animal.

Step 4: Congratulations! You are the new mom or dad to a fur-baby!

***NUGGET IS A COURTESY LISTING AND IS NOT IN THE POSSESSION OF THE AAC*** PLEASE CONTACT THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO INQUIRE MORE. Nugget is 3.5 years old, 40 pounds, and a rescue from St. Croix, USVI. He was found in the bushes weighing 2 pounds, malnourished and mangey. Now, he is very energetic and would love a big yard to run around. His favorite activites are fetching the ball, going on long hikes, and sun bathing. He is very silly and can be a little spastic. Nugget can be shy and cautious when meeting new people and other dogs. He is protective of his owner (me) and his other roommates. He doesn't like bikes and other things with wheels (skateboards, trash cans, etc.). He would do best in a house with no little kids. But he can be very cuddly, sweet, and loving. He is up to date on his shots and medical records. I am moving and can no longer have pets. I am heartbroken to have to put Nugget up for adoption but am looking for a new family to give him lots of love and attention. Hannah 307-699-1570 hannahroush0@gmail.com

***RUBY IS A COURTESY LISTING AND IS NOT IN THE POSSESSION OF THE AAC*** PLEASE CONTACT THE INFORMATION PROVIDED. This adorable Border Collie with the mile-wide smile is Ruby - a sweet girl who has had a rough past. She can understandably be quite timid in some circumstances, but she has now been in foster care a month and is really starting to blossom. She is a most charming and enthusiastic little lass, with her giant grin and silly ears, just a little monkey of a dog. She loves to roll about in the snow, run wildly at top speeds, and go for walks and bike rides. She is a bouncy girl with a moderate energy level who settles down nicely after she gets her daily outing. She gets along well with other dogs, isn’t really playful with them though, and a dog park setting would probably be too much for her. She is, more than anything, a dog who desperately wants a human family to belong to. Although it’s clear nobody has taken the time to work with her, she is really eager to learn (see the video of one of her first lessons at https://youtu.be/6bEmkl2SDfA). She is cratetrained, walks well on a leash with the help of a no pull harness, and is really making progress with sitting and coming when called. We hear she has lived peaceably around all kinds of livestock in the past - horses, donkeys, llamas. She has peaceably shared a home with several dogs and cats and a potbellied pig, and she ignores the sheep in her foster home. Ruby will need adopters who are patient and experienced with helping shy dogs build confidence while keeping them safe from situations that are too overwhelming as they learn the world is a good place. She will do best in a quiet setting with a pretty set routine. Estimates place her at 5 years old, although she acts younger...she’s about 35 pounds, build low and lean. For more info on this cutie or an adoption application email her foster mom at shenzypoa@gmail.com OR text (307) 739-9185 no calls.

Daisy (right) and Tots (left) are 7 year old, female/male, pugs that were surrendered to the Idaho Falls shelter because their family could no longer care for them. They were transferred here to Jackson on 4/17 to find their forever home. They seem to have been well-taken care of and are overall pretty low maintenance dogs. Pugs do have a history of having medical issues at some point in their life and we would love for any potential adopters to be aware of this upon adoption. We are open to adopting the pair together or separate. Since their time here they have gotten in a few fights with each other so if someone wants to adopt them as a pair they need to be aware that it is possible. They do fine apart and are just as happy.

***COURESTY LISTING*** This dog is not in the possession of the AAC. Please contact the information provided below. Kona Adult Female Medium Mix – Shepherd, Chow, Greyhound… House-trained: yes Spayed Up to date on vaccines Good in a home with: male dogs A note from Kona’s mom Kona is a sweet, happy, vibrant girl who absolutely loves life. She is a silly, playful, outgoing, loving soul. Her favorite things are running around in the mountains, cuddling her humans, chewing antlers, and playing with her stuffed animals and toys at home (oh, and peanut butter). She is a goofball, the best snuggly cuddle buddy, and the most enthusiastic, excited adventure buddy I’ve ever had. She will follow me around the house and flop down wherever I am, always engaged with me, just waiting to see what’s next – whether we are going to relax and read/chew bones or go out on our next adventure. She’s content to have company, know that she’s loved, and know that the outdoors are always waiting for her J … She and her sister were the best of friends but have decided they no longer want to get along. For this reason, I can no longer keep them both and Kona should not go to a home with another female-female dynamic. She would do great with a male dog her size or larger. She also does great outside at parks and on trails. A fenced yard and an active family would be best for Kona. She loves action, company, and having fun whenever possible. Please reach out if you or someone you know might be a good match and would want to make Kona a part of the family for life. She is so, so loved and has infinite love for her humans in return. I want to send her into another happy and loving home. Call Kim @ 973.886.1021

He adores kids, is great with other dogs, gets long with cats, potbellied pigs and livestock, and has become a registered therapy dog. He enjoys walks, occasional hikes, and loves toys and the snow. He thinks visiting his foster mom’s brother’s family, with two kids and lots of people coming and going, is fabulously fun. Dottie is her name and she is the sweetest most loving dog you could meet. I know everyone says that, but Dottie is the definition of a sweet dog. She would be the happiest dog in the world lounging around, going for a hike, smelling flowers while you fish (she literally walks around smelling flowers), you name it and she'd just be happy to be with you. Dottie is such a gorgeous, loving, sweet, smart, snuggly dog. She does have some quirks that would require her to have a special home where she would be the only dog in the house. She does well socializing outside her home, but her anxiety seems to be causing issues with other dogs in her home. She loves kids, just not kids that are too little, as she is a bowling ball of love. She also finds cats just a little too appealing, so she needs a cat free home.

COURTESY LISTING. PLEASE CONTACT Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976 Doogie is a four year old male chihuahua mix. He is in fantastic health and is up to date on all vaccinations and received his most recent annual exam in January. He was either born with nerve damage in his front left arm, or was injured at a very young age and did not properly heal, therefore he walks with a small limp. Nonetheless, he is not in pain and assumes all normal, healthy dog activities. Doogie loves to run, chase his ball and can often be found herding the bigger dogs at the dog park. Doogie is a snuggler! He loves couch time and burying deep under the covers when its time for bed. He loves sleeping in sunny spots and receiving cuddles and kisses. He is happiest in the lap of his owner or curled up at the foot of the bed. Doogie was adopted by my husband and I out of an abusive home three years ago in San Francisco and has received the most love and affection a pup could ask for since the day he was brought home. We had a baby girl over a year ago and it is growing more and more difficult to balance the relationship between the curiosity of our toddler and Doogie's desire to not be on the receiving end of her ever-growing curiosities. It was with much grief and difficulty that we decided to send him to Wyoming to live with friends that promised an even greater adventure for Doogie, but last minute circumstances have them moving back to New York and they are unable to bring him along. We now find ourselves once again seeking a stable long-term home for Doogie where he will be accepted and unconditionally loved. Doogie does bite, and can be very protective of his resources and owners. Adoption by an experienced small dog owner who knows how to provide consistent boundaries for dogs that try to walk the line would be the ideal scenario. He can be very anxious in new situations and until he is fully comfortable, and as a result will display anxious behavior such as whining, barking and jumping. Once he knows everyone around him and is comfortable, he is haps as a clam, and is a lover! He craves stability and consistency. Doogie would not do well in a home with young children or in a home that receives frequent visits from strangers. He is best in an environment with lots of exercise and room to explore, preferably with other dogs or animal siblings as he thrives in a pack dynamic. There are certain bad habits that he falls into once he gains comfort in an environment, but he has such a desire to please; I believe these habits can be broken with consistent and effective training. Doogie has a heart of gold and has the potential of being an incredible companion. If someone were to invest their efforts in Doogie, I know the outcome would be very rewarding. I would be happy to discuss Doogie further if anyone is interested in taking him on. Thank you, Eric and Caroline Richardson Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976

Making a difference in the lives of homeless animals…

The AAC has rescued and re-homed over 2700 cats and dogs since being founded in 2004. The low-cost Spay/Neuter Wyoming Program has spayed and neutered over 7,000 animals since being established in 2009.
