How to Adopt

Our goal is to ensure that your new four-legged friend arrives fully equipped with all the skills necessary to make a successful adjustment to their new home and family life. The adoption process begins with an application form and concludes after the successful completion of a two week trial period designed to ensure a smooth transition for the animal and the new adopter.

Step 1: Search our adoptable animals

Browse our animals online or visit the AAC to meet them in person.

Step 2: Fill out an application

Dog ApplicationCat Application

Step 3: Adoption Requirements

  • Our dog adoption fee is $175 and the cat adoption fee is $80
  • Potential adopters are required to foster for at least one night. Once your application is reviewed and approved we honor a two-week trial period to make sure your new pet fits in well with your family and lifestyle.
  • Adoption fees will be deposited after the two week trial period. If during the trial period you find that the animal is not a suitable match the adoption fee will be refunded.
  • Any animal adopted from the AAC is always welcomed back if for any reason you can no longer care for him or her at any point in their life.
  • Adopters must be at least 24 years old to adopt a cat or dog.
  • Adopters who rent their home must have landlord approval in order to adopt.
  • We welcome out of area adopters, however we require prospective adopters to visit our facility and spend at least one night with the animal.

Step 4: Congratulations! You are the new mom or dad to a fur-baby!

***THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. DOTTIE IS NOT LOCATED AT THE ADOPTION CENTER. PLEASE USE THE CONTACT INFO BELOW TO FIND OUT MORE*** Dottie is her name and she is the sweetest most loving dog you could meet. I know everyone says that, but Dottie is the definition of a sweet dog. She would be the happiest dog in the world lounging around, going for a hike, smelling flowers while you fish (she literally walks around smelling flowers), you name it and she'd just be happy to be with you. Unfortunately the past year and a half the relationship between her and my other dog Lola has taken a bad turn. The life style these two have been living is not fair to them. It has broken my heart completely by coming to the conclusion that it is no longer acceptable for them to live in the same house. Dottie is such a gorgeous, loving, sweet, smart, snuggly dog I feel she would have an easier time finding a new home. She does have some quirks that would require her to have a special home where she would be the only dog in the house. She does well socializing outside her home, but her anxiety seems to be causing issues with other dogs in her home. She loves kids, just not kids that are too little. She has never been able to kick her need for jumping on people, even though she tries. Elyse Hladky 410-688-8405

*** This is a courtesy listing. The Animal Adoption Center is not in possession os Isa. Please use the contact information provided below to find out more*** This is Isa a purebred Akbash female. She is 4 years old. Isa is great with all people including kids, she is fine being penned up and doesnt dig, the only time she barks in a pen is if she senses something’s amiss or hears coyotes. Which is what she suppose to do. Isa is very good with the sheep and doesn’t wander when she’s with them, I need to find her a new home either with just adult sheep or another job, Isa is just not good with the lambs she’s very rough with them unfortunately. She’s not real good with chickens either. Isa is a good girl she needs a different situation then what I can offer her at this time with the sheep. I really hope she can find a better situation that suits her as she is a wonderful dog Isa is located in Crowheart, Wy. ***THIS CAT IS NOT IN THE POSSESSION OF THE ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER*** To inquire more about Sadie, please contact the information provided: Tiffany Linford (208) 390-2360 Sadie cat has been there and done that! She was originally adopted in D.C. and lived the apartment life for 4 years while welcoming two new members to our family (our daughter & son). She then flew across the country, took a stroll in the Denver airport during a layover and then continued her journey to Idaho. She continued to live a life of adventure in Colorado for 5 years with learning to outwit and outsmart foxes, skunks, bears and mountain lions, while having an additional member added to our family (our second son). Back to Idaho for a job opportunity and staying with the grandparents in hopes for a rental where her family could dote on her. Sadly, her family (us) is going on a second year of finding no rentals in the Jackson area where pets are allowed. With a heavy heart, I have to do what is best for my family & pets and need to provide some stability and permanence for Sadie cat, which she greatly deserves. Sadie is a 9-year-old, spayed female short hair domestic cat. She is used to being indoors and outdoors. She is good with having her nails trimmed and can have nail caps applied if needed. She is litterbox trained and prefers using the bathroom outdoors when it is not winter. She is particular about her food (Orijen cat & kitten) and loves the Temptation cat treats. She has her own special water fountain, food dish, brush and toys that will come with her. She has grown up with children, but has more patience and tolerance for adults and older children that are calmer, quieter and more predictable. She seems to bond with women more than men or boys. She is a great hunter and we have never had any rodent or bird issues when she is on the prowl. She also loves adventures and goes for walks with us along our property and surrounding trails. She is a one and only type of cat. We have never been able to have her tolerate other cats living with her. She chases off strays that enter the property and growls at neighbors' cats. She has lived with dogs sporadically and will tolerate if they do not chase. I have always placed nail caps on her when she met a new dog to keep them both safe. We always created a "safe" spot for Sadie with using a baby gate so she could have dog-free zones. I have posted flyers around to all the local feed and pet stores and have been trying to get the word out about her. Thank you for your guys' help, I greatly appreciate it. I hope I can find an even better home than we have provided for her these past 9 years. I have sent 4 pictures of her as an attachment and if an adoption does not work out, I would take her back until another option became available. I want to try to keep her out of a shelter if possible and want to make sure a forever home is found instead of her being passed on to someone else or being dropped off somewhere. ***This is a courtesy listing. Tuck is not located at the animal adoption center. Please use the contact info below for more info.*** Meet Tuck! This adorable freckle face is a young Border Collie, likely mixed with Cattle Dog. This sweet boy was absolutely terrified at the shelter, but after several weeks in loving foster care he is really, really doing well. He is learning the world is full of fabulous adventures, and after adjusting to all the big changes in his life, has joined his foster parents camping, hiking, and has gone to play disc golf. He is a ball-a-holic and loves to play fetch. He lives with two other dogs and although not playful, cohabitates peacefully. He is smart and food motivated and is now housetrained, cratetrained, and walks nicely on a leash. He is a high energy fellow and up for anything you are. If you are looking for a great active outdoor adventure sidekick, Tuck may be just the one for you! He is available for adoption through a rural Wyoming shelter and is being fostered in outside Jackson in Wilson. If you have questions or are interested in this cutie pie email wbcr@wbcrescue.org

Sweet Chile is a 1 year old DSH Gray Tabby. He came to us on 4/21/17, which is when we discovered he is FIV Positive. This means he'll need to go to a home with absolutely no other cats, but he doesn't mind, he's more content curled up on your lap anyways! Chile embodies the "curious cat", his inquisitive eyes and adorable self will sneak into your heart the moment you meet him! If you're interested in meeting Chile, please fill out an application and we can set up an introduction.

COURTESY LISTING. PLEASE CONTACT Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976 Doogie is a four year old male chihuahua mix. He is in fantastic health and is up to date on all vaccinations and received his most recent annual exam in January. He was either born with nerve damage in his front left arm, or was injured at a very young age and did not properly heal, therefore he walks with a small limp. Nonetheless, he is not in pain and assumes all normal, healthy dog activities. Doogie loves to run, chase his ball and can often be found herding the bigger dogs at the dog park. Doogie is a snuggler! He loves couch time and burying deep under the covers when its time for bed. He loves sleeping in sunny spots and receiving cuddles and kisses. He is happiest in the lap of his owner or curled up at the foot of the bed. Doogie was adopted by my husband and I out of an abusive home three years ago in San Francisco and has received the most love and affection a pup could ask for since the day he was brought home. We had a baby girl over a year ago and it is growing more and more difficult to balance the relationship between the curiosity of our toddler and Doogie's desire to not be on the receiving end of her ever-growing curiosities. It was with much grief and difficulty that we decided to send him to Wyoming to live with friends that promised an even greater adventure for Doogie, but last minute circumstances have them moving back to New York and they are unable to bring him along. We now find ourselves once again seeking a stable long-term home for Doogie where he will be accepted and unconditionally loved. Doogie does bite, and can be very protective of his resources and owners. Adoption by an experienced small dog owner who knows how to provide consistent boundaries for dogs that try to walk the line would be the ideal scenario. He can be very anxious in new situations and until he is fully comfortable, and as a result will display anxious behavior such as whining, barking and jumping. Once he knows everyone around him and is comfortable, he is haps as a clam, and is a lover! He craves stability and consistency. Doogie would not do well in a home with young children or in a home that receives frequent visits from strangers. He is best in an environment with lots of exercise and room to explore, preferably with other dogs or animal siblings as he thrives in a pack dynamic. There are certain bad habits that he falls into once he gains comfort in an environment, but he has such a desire to please; I believe these habits can be broken with consistent and effective training. Doogie has a heart of gold and has the potential of being an incredible companion. If someone were to invest their efforts in Doogie, I know the outcome would be very rewarding. I would be happy to discuss Doogie further if anyone is interested in taking him on. Thank you, Eric and Caroline Richardson Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976

You will not find cat markings more unusual than mine. I’m a Rorschach test on a cat. What you see says something about you. I’m just not sure what? The contents of my character are indisputable. I’m 100% sweet and confident on the inside. A great cat that can co-exist with other cats and kids. What do you see when you look at me? I hope you see your future cat. Oreo is 2 years young.
