Available Animals

The Animal Adoption Center has rehomed approximately 3,500 animals since the inception in 2004.

How to Adopt

Our goal is to ensure that your new four-legged friend arrives fully equipped with all the skills necessary to make a successful adjustment to their new home and family life. The adoption process begins with an application form and concludes after the successful completion of a two week trial period designed to ensure a smooth transition for the animal and the new adopter.

Step 1: Search our adoptable animals

Browse our animals online or visit the AAC to meet them in person.

Step 2: Fill out an application

Dog ApplicationCat Application

Step 3: Adoption Requirements

  • Our dog adoption fee is $175 and the cat adoption fee is $80
  • Potential adopters are required to foster for at least one night. Once your application is reviewed and approved we honor a two-week trial period to make sure your new pet fits in well with your family and lifestyle.
  • Adoption fees will be deposited after the two week trial period. If during the trial period you find that the animal is not a suitable match the adoption fee will be refunded.
  • Any animal adopted from the AAC is always welcomed back if for any reason you can no longer care for him or her at any point in their life.
  • Adopters must be at least 24 years old to adopt a cat or dog.
  • Adopters who rent their home must have landlord approval in order to adopt.
  • We welcome out of area adopters, however we require prospective adopters to visit our facility and spend at least one night with the animal.

Step 4: Congratulations! You are the new mom or dad to a fur-baby!

****COURTESY LISTING**** THIS DOG IS NOT IN THE AAC ADOPTION PROGRAM BUT ONLY A COURTESY LISTING. PLEASE CONTACT THE INFORMATION PROVIDED. Vandel's full name is Art Vandelay, which is a Seinfield reference and worth a google if you don't know it. Other alias also include Vanny, V-Dog, Fox Pup, and Sweetie Dog. She is a corgi- red heeler mix and is probably 6.5-7 years old. We adopted her at age 1.5. She is an incredibly loyal dog. We never had her run away from me or not come back when called within a short amount time. Sometimes she is a little timid at first (especially with guys) but is super sweet once she trusts you. She is generally friendly with other dogs. She has been a great running, hiking and backpacking companion. She does well mountain biking too but can't go for super long rides due to her shorter legs and heavy coat. She stays nearby, doesn’t chase big animals (but loves chasing little critters). We recently learned that she has a hidden talent and can dribble a basketball with her front legs. She is pretty well trained as she will sit, stay, roll over, howl and "bring the heat" (balance on her back legs) on command. She has been a great dog to us and we are heartbroken to find her a new home but have realized she is not good with kids and we have a 15 month old. Please email shermania81@hotmail.com to set up a meeting with Vandal.

***COURTESY L ISTING*** THIS DOG IS NOT IN THE POSSESSION OF THE ANIMAL ADOPTION CENTER! PLEASE CONTACT THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO INQUIRE MORE! He is a 2 and a half year old blue heeler mix. He is neutered with no medical issues. Gauge is the sweetest little boy his only vice is that he isn't good with strangers rushing up to him, if he is slowly introduced to someone he is a perfect gentleman. However, if someone just comes up to him or he feels threatened by something he has a tendency to nip at them. He needs somewhere with a fenced yard and probably no children. My current situation right now just does not have that for him. Ideally I could find a long term foster situation for him until I have a more suitable environment for him. I know that would be nearly impossible to find. He is my baby and I do not want to let him go but I don't know what I can do for him right now. ***NUGGET IS A COURTESY LISTING AND IS NOT IN THE POSSESSION OF THE AAC*** PLEASE CONTACT THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO INQUIRE MORE. Nugget is 3.5 years old, 40 pounds, and a rescue from St. Croix, USVI. He was found in the bushes weighing 2 pounds, malnourished and mangey. Now, he is very energetic and would love a big yard to run around. His favorite activites are fetching the ball, going on long hikes, and sun bathing. He is very silly and can be a little spastic. Nugget can be shy and cautious when meeting new people and other dogs. He is protective of his owner (me) and his other roommates. He doesn't like bikes and other things with wheels (skateboards, trash cans, etc.). He would do best in a house with no little kids. But he can be very cuddly, sweet, and loving. He is up to date on his shots and medical records. I am moving and can no longer have pets. I am heartbroken to have to put Nugget up for adoption but am looking for a new family to give him lots of love and attention. Hannah 307-699-1570 hannahroush0@gmail.com

***COURESTY LISTING*** This dog is not in the possession of the AAC. Please contact the information provided below. Kona Adult Female Medium Mix – Shepherd, Chow, Greyhound… House-trained: yes Spayed Up to date on vaccines Good in a home with: male dogs A note from Kona’s mom Kona is a sweet, happy, vibrant girl who absolutely loves life. She is a silly, playful, outgoing, loving soul. Her favorite things are running around in the mountains, cuddling her humans, chewing antlers, and playing with her stuffed animals and toys at home (oh, and peanut butter). She is a goofball, the best snuggly cuddle buddy, and the most enthusiastic, excited adventure buddy I’ve ever had. She will follow me around the house and flop down wherever I am, always engaged with me, just waiting to see what’s next – whether we are going to relax and read/chew bones or go out on our next adventure. She’s content to have company, know that she’s loved, and know that the outdoors are always waiting for her J … She and her sister were the best of friends but have decided they no longer want to get along. For this reason, I can no longer keep them both and Kona should not go to a home with another female-female dynamic. She would do great with a male dog her size or larger. She also does great outside at parks and on trails. A fenced yard and an active family would be best for Kona. She loves action, company, and having fun whenever possible. Please reach out if you or someone you know might be a good match and would want to make Kona a part of the family for life. She is so, so loved and has infinite love for her humans in return. I want to send her into another happy and loving home. Call Kim @ 973.886.1021

Dottie is her name and she is the sweetest most loving dog you could meet. I know everyone says that, but Dottie is the definition of a sweet dog. She would be the happiest dog in the world lounging around, going for a hike, smelling flowers while you fish (she literally walks around smelling flowers), you name it and she'd just be happy to be with you. Dottie is such a gorgeous, loving, sweet, smart, snuggly dog. She does have some quirks that would require her to have a special home where she would be the only dog in the house. She does well socializing outside her home, but her anxiety seems to be causing issues with other dogs in her home. She loves kids, just not kids that are too little, as she is a bowling ball of love. She also finds cats just a little too appealing, so she needs a cat free home.

COURTESY LISTING. PLEASE CONTACT Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976 Doogie is a four year old male chihuahua mix. He is in fantastic health and is up to date on all vaccinations and received his most recent annual exam in January. He was either born with nerve damage in his front left arm, or was injured at a very young age and did not properly heal, therefore he walks with a small limp. Nonetheless, he is not in pain and assumes all normal, healthy dog activities. Doogie loves to run, chase his ball and can often be found herding the bigger dogs at the dog park. Doogie is a snuggler! He loves couch time and burying deep under the covers when its time for bed. He loves sleeping in sunny spots and receiving cuddles and kisses. He is happiest in the lap of his owner or curled up at the foot of the bed. Doogie was adopted by my husband and I out of an abusive home three years ago in San Francisco and has received the most love and affection a pup could ask for since the day he was brought home. We had a baby girl over a year ago and it is growing more and more difficult to balance the relationship between the curiosity of our toddler and Doogie's desire to not be on the receiving end of her ever-growing curiosities. It was with much grief and difficulty that we decided to send him to Wyoming to live with friends that promised an even greater adventure for Doogie, but last minute circumstances have them moving back to New York and they are unable to bring him along. We now find ourselves once again seeking a stable long-term home for Doogie where he will be accepted and unconditionally loved. Doogie does bite, and can be very protective of his resources and owners. Adoption by an experienced small dog owner who knows how to provide consistent boundaries for dogs that try to walk the line would be the ideal scenario. He can be very anxious in new situations and until he is fully comfortable, and as a result will display anxious behavior such as whining, barking and jumping. Once he knows everyone around him and is comfortable, he is haps as a clam, and is a lover! He craves stability and consistency. Doogie would not do well in a home with young children or in a home that receives frequent visits from strangers. He is best in an environment with lots of exercise and room to explore, preferably with other dogs or animal siblings as he thrives in a pack dynamic. There are certain bad habits that he falls into once he gains comfort in an environment, but he has such a desire to please; I believe these habits can be broken with consistent and effective training. Doogie has a heart of gold and has the potential of being an incredible companion. If someone were to invest their efforts in Doogie, I know the outcome would be very rewarding. I would be happy to discuss Doogie further if anyone is interested in taking him on. Thank you, Eric and Caroline Richardson Karin at Animal Oasis 208-313-7976

Making a difference in the lives of homeless animals…

The AAC has rescued and re-homed over 2700 cats and dogs since being founded in 2004. The low-cost Spay/Neuter Wyoming Program has spayed and neutered over 7,000 animals since being established in 2009.
